Making appointments
Visits and telephone advice

Obtaining  telephone  advice

The doctors and nurses are generally available to give telephone advice after their surgeries, at around 12.30 on weekdays.  You will usually be asked to leave a contact number for the doctor or nurse to be able to return your call when they have finished surgery.   For emergency advice we will always try our best to find a doctor to speak to you as soon as possible.

Telephone  01483  415115

Requesting  a  Home  Visit

If you are too ill to come to the surgery then you can be seen at home.  If possible, please try to phone the surgery before 10.30am

The receptionists will require your name and address and brief details of the problem so that requests can be given the necessary priority.  A doctor will often telephone you first to discuss the problem, and visits are usually performed in the afternoon.

Making a complaint or suggestion

We have an in-house complaints procedure.  If you have a complaint, you should contact the practice manager or ask at reception for the Complaints Information Leaflet.  We would ask you to make any formal complaint in writing.  Your complaint will be fully investigated and dealt with promptly.

Making  an  appointment

An appointment system is operated for all surgeries except baby clinics.

Please call at reception, or telephone during opening hours. Telephone 01483 415900.

We now operate an Advanced Access appointments system.  This means that we hold back a set number of appointments each day so that it is much easier to make an appointment on the day that you telephone, for both urgent and routine matters.  Please telephone soon after 8am for book on day appointments as the earlier you call the more likely it is that we will be able to give you an appointment to suit you.

It is still possible to make a pre-booked appointment if you prefer this option.  For all appointments please try to see your usual doctor, who will be most familiar with your medical history

If you are unable to keep your appointment, or no longer need it, please inform the practice as soon as possible so that it may be used for another patient.

Obtaining a sickness certificate

You do not require a doctor's sickness certificate for any illness lasting 7 days or less.  Your employer may, however, require you to complete a self-certification form which is available from your employer or at our reception.  For any illness lasting longer than 7 days you will need to see the doctor for him or her to issue a certificate.  You may not need to see your doctor in person if we already have a written report relating to your illness from another doctor, eg a consultant.  Subsequent  sick certificates can sometimes be done over the telephone but will often require a further appointment to review the situation.
